New 0BA8 not compatible with old 0BA8

compressormechanic Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have a program on an SD card that was made with a LOGO 0BA8 FS: 03 FW: V1.08.03. If I take that SD card and put it in a LOGO 0BA8 FS:04 FW: V1.81.01, the program will not load. It restarts then says "Clear Program" on startup. The only way I could load the program is with Comfort. Also, if I make an SD card with the new 0BA8 and put it in the old OBA8 it won't work. We sell hundreds of machines per year that use LOGO, then if a program change is needed in the future, I'll send a card to update it. So I've always kept a record of which machine has which LOGO version, and I keep 1 of every PLC to make cards for those machines. But now I have to track firmware versions and keep 1 0BA8 from each revision?

If then a new LOGO! Hardware version is available in the hardware selection, this usually means that there is also a new firmware version.

compressormechanic Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thank-you for the answer. Its unfortunate that LOGO has these compatibility issues now, no previous version of LOGO has had these issues in my experience. Also if 0BA8 Standard and 0BA8.FS4, are not compatible, it should say FS4 on the front on the PLC so you can identify it. Its not even in the Diagnostics menu.

ixo65 Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 12/18/2014 Last visit: 1/13/2025 Posts: 34482 Rating: (4304)	You are mistaken. A new hardware always assumes that if you want to use a program with older, selected hardware for the new hardware, the hardware must be adapted in the program.

markheuer Posts: 158 Rating: (1)	I had the same problem. It is not clear in this post what the solution is. What is 0BA8 FS3 & FS4? I have to be able to load a program on (any) 0BA8. I have one w/ FW 1.08.03 that works fine and using the same card, will not load onto one with FW 1.81.01. When I try, it briefly says "clear prog" then appears to load, but when I 'start' it says "Error Empty Program". I'm using Comfort v. 8.0.0. on Windows 7. When I try to upgrade or update I get different error messages. See attachment for error messages. I had a colleague try using a different computer (windows 10) he gets the same messages. We have already sent an 0BA8 back to our vendor thinking it was defective for the same problem, this is the brand new replacement. I hope there is a simple solution, please help.. ixo65 Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 12/18/2014 Last visit: 1/13/2025 Posts: 34482 Rating: (4304)	There are two different hardware versions of the LOGO! 0BA8. The older one is 0BA8.Standard. It has the Fimverwareversionen V1.08.01 to V1.08.03 (corresponds to the production stands FS01 to FS03). The new one is LOGO8! .FS4. It has the firmware version V1.81.01 and has production status FS04. With the LOGO! Soft Comfort V8.0.x, only programs for the 0BA8.Standard can be created and edited, but not for the 0BA8! .FS4. For the new 0BA8! .FS4 the LOGO! Soft Comfort V8.1.x is required. For the correct upgrading also the V8.1 please see this topic: Upgrading from LSC V8.0 to LSC V8.1 Edit: For upgrading start the LSC V8 as an Administrator.

I've updated many times, never had a problem until now. I also updated many times, and I never had a problem. Also not with the upgrading fom V8.0 to V8.1. There you can go another way: Download from this Siemens Website Demo software , upgrades/updates, Drivers the upgrade-file, it is a "Setup.exe" file. After downloading run the Setup.exe as an Administrator.
