new PG M4 with TIA PORTAL Ver. 12 - TIA Portal V10.5 Installation error

raptorjess Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I have a similar problem .Recently I got a newPGM4 with TIA PORTAL Ver. 12 included .when I tried to load ver. 10.5 I couldn´t finish instalation but the only message is Attachment IMG_3299.JPG (261 Downloads)

I find in the document "Delivery Release for SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional / Basic V12" the following notes. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/67851956 Compatibility with other SIMATIC products STEP 7 Professional / Basic V12 (incl. WinCC Basic V12) can be installed on one computer in parallel with other versions of STEP 7 V11, V5.4 or V5.5, STEP 7 Micro/WIN, WinCC flexible (2008 and higher) and WinCC (V7.0 SP2 and higher). STEP 7 V10.5 is not mentioned here. Best Regards Azteke0110

You can use Windows XP mode to run inside Win7-64. You would be well served to update the project and PLC firmware to run V11 or higher. If you have specialty add-on modules, there may be firmware updates for them as well. Best solution is to swap the plc out with newer firmware plc and use your V12, but that is not always well received by customers and managers who do not want to spend extra on a delivered product. In those cases, the virtual machine is probably the next best approach.
