Fazal Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I'm new to TIA portal and i've some basic questions. 1. How is it different from PCS7? 2. Does it also work with CFC? 3. The next time we're providing a Step7+WinCC solution, does this mean that now we'll propose TIA portal to the customer? Any help would be great ! Thanks and regards Fazal

The CFC language is part of it, however it is not only S7+CFC, he has a concept of librarys and integration of the AS blocks with OS faceplates. At this moment STEP 7 Basic is just machine oriented and has just ladder/blocks functions. A convergency of the two sistems is logical, and maybe programad to occur in a medium time.

fritz Diamond Member Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/24/2025 Posts: 3032 Rating: (1059)	Hello Fazal what Pegaiastated is in general correct, however, with the imminent release of TIA Portal V11 and all the fanfare (and development investment by Siemens) that went along with, itis bound to replace the traditional Step 7 & WinCC in the short term (read a year or two). The above is of course my personal opinion and Siemens has not (yet at least) made any offical roadmap announcement concenring this matter as far as I'm aware (there's plenty of rumours and hearsay around though and who knows how all of this will affect PCS7). Anyway, I suggest you have a look at www.siemens.com/tia-portal where you will get all the glossy info about V11 that is available for now and ask your local Siemens office about any further "offical" advise. OR Is siemens now only pushing TIA implementation for new projects? Apart from a single environment to engineer both PLC & HMI is there any added benefit (read cost) if we go for TIA?

And just to mention, if you are good "seller" (also depends from "buyer" company) - you can sell TIA. My point is - people which are responsible to take decision for that, to sign contracts are newbie in automation . Even they don't care about software. Important is the price and the final result. Exactly, this is the reality. Fazal Is siemens now only pushing TIA implementation for new projects? Exactly, this is the market. But to be honest, I expect TIA Portal то be the Future of Siemens Automation. For the moment not but after one year one by one TIA will "grow". Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Seealso page 12 of Siemens S7 TIA Portal brochure wherethe following isstated: SIMATIC STEP 7 V12 provides powerful compilers and programming editors for programming SIMATIC S7 controllers: • The structured text (SCL), ladder logic (LAD), and function block diagram (FBD) languages are available for all controllers. • Statement list (STL) and step sequence programming (GRAPH, SFC) are additionally available for the controller series S7-1500, S7-300, S7-400 and WinAC.
