New with step5

Hi everyone;

I'm working on a sinumerik 810T and I can't transfer txt files by step5 software. Also I'm new with step5 and don't know so much about it.

Can anyone help me plz?

In Siemens automation products, Step 5 is the programming software for CPUs of the S5 family, which preceded the S7 family currently produced and in use.

Here is the programming manual for step 5 v7.2, the latest version produced, running under Win XP: Older versions are compatible with DOS.

If you prefer working within a Windows environment up to Windows 10, you should look at 3rd-party providers such as IBFSoftech, who produce S5 for Windows.

STEP 5 is a very old, DOS-based programming language for S5-PLCs.

It's The "STEP 7" for S5 PLCs.

Thanks for your guidance. I've already read this manual for step5 v7.2 but I couldn't get any clue to my answer. My problem is my backup files are in txt format, so I can't transfer them. I just wanna know if there is a solution to my problem.

So I have a txt file named PCP.txt and this is my backup file I was talking about before.

How can I convert PCP.txt to a XXXXXXST.S5D ?

Because renaming  PCP.txt to PCPPCPST.S5D did not work . I mean I could load the file in step5 but I couldn't transfer it. What's the problem?

There are no S5 files with the file extension txt.
I cannot tell you what the "PCP.txt" file should be.
Do you only have this file? Or do you have any other files?

Can you upload the files you have from the project as a ZIP Archive?
