Good day experts,

So I'm preparing a replacement Single Station ES/OS PC (IPC 847C) for the currently being used one (IPC 547C), with its own new CP (similar to the existing one, CP1613 A2), and same Windows XP and PCS7 v6.1 SP4.

So I finished installing PCS7 and Cemat first (exactly similar to the existing one) before I was able to install the CP1613 A2. After I install card and boot, there's a Windows Driver Installer, I installed the driver by window's recommendation and WITHOUT the CP1613 A2 included CD (since PCS7 already include Simatic Net 2005 v6.3), and it installed fine, the CP is now recognized by PC and is in device manager under "Simatic Net".

The problem is when I open Simatic Net Console, there's red crosses sign and is indicating CP DEACTIVATED, also there's a yellow exclamation sign on PC/PG interface for CP1613. I noticed that the CP blinks now with long interval compared to very short interval before I installed driver.

Now I tried to reinstall the driver from CD. First I uninstalled driver from Windows Device Manager, reboot, then then follow the Window's automatic driver install again upon boot up, but this time with the CD inserted, and it installed fine again. But seems it has gotten worse, now CP1613 appears under "network adapter" together with the normal LAN cards instead of under "Simatic Net", and it doesn't show anymore on Simatic Net Console.

I tried uninstalling the driver again, but now I always show under "network adapter" with or without the CD driver inserted.

So now, I restored the PC, and trying to reinstall PCS and driver (the build-in Simatic Net on PCS, not the CD) again with the CP 1613 A2 card already installed in the PC, hoping it would have a different result.

So did I miss something in the installation procedure? Does the CP supposed to be "activated" on Simatic Net Console after installing the driver (from the installed Simatic Net of PCS7)? How could I activate the CP?

After I restored the rack PC to factory Windows XP SP3, and have reinstalled PCS7 v6.1, it's still the same, the CP is still deactivated on the Simatic Net Console, and still have exclamation sign on PC/PG interface.

Though it's already ok on the Device Manager, already under Simatic Net as "Simatic CP1613 A2 PCI Adapter" (this time there's no automatic Windows driver installer upon boot up, I guess the was driver already installed automatically during PCS7 installation, since this time the CP was already installed on the PC before I install PCS7).

Any help please? 

Somehow I was able to configure/download the PC station hardware config on Simatic Manager by using PC Internal Local as PC/PG interface. After that the Station Configuration Editor looked good, but the Simatic Net Console as well as PC/PG interface for CP1613 still has its error.

I tried to connect to the PLC anyway (by unplugging the profinet cable from the existing/working old PC to the new PC) still using CP1613 ISO PC/PG interface despite the error and to my surprise it somehow worked.. Both PLC program and WinCC runtime are responding. I'm not sure if there would be other things affected by this CP1613 error, but I guess I have to go with this for now..

If you have an IPC847D and you want to install PCS7 v6.1 SP4 with a CP1613 A2, it won't work!!

I have solved the problem with this....

What needs to be done is that you must copy a folder from the installation disc of PCS7 v6.1 SP1 to PCS7 v6.1 SP4. It is basically a modified installation of SP4 then.

I have this system running in the plant for 1 year now.

What I can do for you is upload the modified installation as ISO so you can use it.

You have to reinstall Windows XP and then install the modified setup.

I would call Siemens Support because PCS7 Configurations and Hardware releases are very strict defined. The Support could help you with questions of compatibility and Driver Problems With the CP.

I have done this when I had this problem. They asked Siemens Germany, but they did not know neither. And also it's about v6.1, so it's not supported anymore by Siemens...

I have  IPC847C not D, but any way did Siemens release compatibility list for CP/IPC? I only read about CP/Windows list..

BTW did you read my last post? It somehow already worked, now it has communication with the PLC (I can already monitor and control), you also think it's not enough (I actually do think it isn't with all those errors lol)?

I see, so that modified PCS7 v6.1 SP4 was advised by Siemens themselves?

Thanks, it will really help a lot if you can provide the entire installer itself! So I will just install it as I normally install PCS7?

So what's actually incompatible between the CP/PCS7/IPC?
