No Printer

kaveh.k Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone! I have a problem with Wincc V.6.0 SP4. I have a Epson LQ-2180 and I want to use it for a Line Print Layout. My computer doesn't have anyLPT port and because of thatthere is no printer in print job for a line layout. So I've bought a PCI Parallel card and have installed it and there is nothing wrong with the printer, it's been installed on LPT3 (I can't install it on LPT1)and I can print test pages, but still there is no printer in the printer job. I've tried a printer server too and the problem hasn't solved. Please someone help me with this, I'm in a hurry and I'd appreciate any help.

The whole LPT ports are leftovers from DOS days, so you have to test it thoroughly! This solution MAY work on your system (no warranties). WinCC can only use LPT1: Install printer driver for a printer (either connected locally or on another server) and share the printer. Make sure Test page comes out. Then open a DOS box and type net use LPT1: \\printerserver\Printersharename /PERSISTENT:YES The command completed successfully. where printerserver and printersharename are renamed for your system. test by sending a simple file to the printer: C:\>print /d:lpt1 boot.ini Regards, Tolleif

unipirate Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I would also like to add to this thread. This procedure works great, especially if your computer hardware doesn't have a LPT at all. In my case I was required to use a serial COM port for a line printer. This was to be used to printthe incoming messages to WinCC. Now WinCC doesn't allow printing to a line printer through any port but the LPT1. Now the trick to get this to work was to follow the above steps, but there was an extra step that was required, because my hardware contains an LPT. Disable the LPT within the Device Manager. One that was done everything worked fantastically!!!
