Hello,

I wanted to update the node-red-contrib-opcua palette.

After I restarted the IOT2050 the nodes where gone (and uninstalled?).

Now when I try to install it again it fails. I have an internet connection and can update palettes as well.

Attached is what I get from the event log:

Does someone know how to solve this?

Hi, 

for the current node-red-contrib-opcua nodes NodeJS 12 is required. 

You are running either the Industrial OS or the Example Image V1.1.1, both have NodeJS 10 installed. 

The only image compatible with the current version of the nodes is Example Image V1.2.1 / V1.2.2 (V1.2.2 is available the next days).

I have the Example Image with the IOT2050 Advanced, but I'm not sure which version it is.

How can I check the version an how can I update it?

Can you please also tell me where I can see the NodeJS Version?

I checked the NodeJS Version with node -v and it is v10.23.1.

Ok I saw your guide to update to V1.2.1 (https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/ww/en/posts/firmware-upate-to-use-example-image-v1-2-1/275777/?page=0&pageSize=10)

I checked my version with cat /etc/os-release and it is BUILD_ID="V01.01.01-0-ge57a697".

So if I follow your guide I should be ready to go right?

Is it correct, that I don't need additional hardware (like a μSD card / USB flash drive) because I have a eMMc? 

I am unsure about the part where you clean the eMMc. Doesn't that mean that the eMMc is empty afterwards and I can't establish a connection?

So after doing this I have NodeJS 12 and can install the latest version of OPC-UA right?

After doing this, you still need to change the Example Image version to V1.2.1 or V1.2.2 (which is available since Thursday). 

For exchanging the Example Image on the eMMc you would need to use an SD card to flash the image to and transfer it to the eMMc (like you have done it before with V1.1.1).

What do you mean by that? Isn't that chapter 3.4 of your guide or is that something I have to do after finishing the guide?

And why do I need an SD Card? You didn't use one in your guide or did you? 

Another question: Can you please explain to me, what is done in 3.2 and why? How can I use the eMMc after clearing it?

chapter 3.4 describes the update of the firmware.

The firmware V1.2.1 is a pre-condition for using the Example ImageV1.2.1/V1.2.2, which has NodeJS 12.

Firmware and Example Image are two different things.

Chapter 3.2 describes clearing the eMMc in case Example Image V1.0.2 or Industrial OS is running on the eMMc. The reason is that those images are not running with the firmware V1.2.1.

Clearing the eMMc can only be done while running an OS from SD card. After this you need to write an Example Image to the eMMc again (see here)

Is it possible to check, if V1.0.2 is running on my eMMc, so I can skip that part if it is not?
Because I am not completely sure how to use an SD card (or USB Stick) to clear the eMMc. Or is there a how-to for that as well?

Is there a guide on how to change the Example Image after updating the firmware?

Ok, so let me sum up, what I have to do to have the Example Image V1.2.1:

At first I clear the eMMc. For that I change the boot order. My boot order looks like this now:

I clear the eMMc and write it again with the Example Image V1.1.1 right?

Instead of an second USB stick can I use WinSCP to transfer the Example Image file to the IOT2050?

- Write Example Image to an SD card (described here)

- Boot from this SD card
- Clear eMMc with

mkfs.ext4 /dev/mmcblk1

- Follow this guide to write Example Image to eMMc again

After that I have to update the firmware on the eMMc. For that I plug out the USB Stick and boot from the eMMc. I use this manual to do that. I can skip chapter 3.2 (Clear eMMc) because I already did that. 

After successfully updating the firmware I have to write the new Example Image (V1.2.1). I would like to use V1.2.1 instead of V1.2.2 because I know that Node-RED will work there.

Where can I find Example Image V1.2.1? I only found V1.2.2 in the download section.

And how do I overwrite the new Example Image to existing one?
Do I have to boot from the USB Stick again and on the second USB Stick there has to be V1.2.1 file? So I would have to execute:

dd if=/mnt/USB/IOT2050_Example_Image_V1.2.1.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=100M conv=fsync status=progress 

 After that I just have to remove the USB Stick and boot from the eMMc and can use V1.2.1 correct?

Is this method correct or did I forget something or did it wrong?
