Not able to transfer from PC to TP177B Touch Panel

andreazana Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with this issue. I'm trying to transfer to a TP177B touch panel. I managed to do it a while ago using ETHERNET connection, and now I can't see any response nor from my PC nor from the panel (the ETHERNET lights won't turn in and PC says that cable is not connected and I know for sure that my PC's ETHERNET card is just fine). Since there was no way to do it using ETHERNET, I tryed using a PPI cable, but in WINCC transfer window, in the ports combo box, there are not options to choose from. Then I tryed with a MPI cable, I went to Project -> Transfer -> Update OS and I could actually see the Windows CE version and other information, but when I tryed transferring, the transfer message box (the one with two computers images connecting) simply closes after a few seconds. I really don't know what to do from know, since ETHERNET connection used to work and it suddenly stopped working and these options didn't work either... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. hiandreazana, try to adjust the transfer protocol in the TP177B ... after booting the panel goto control panel and open (Transfer menu) then choose it to be ETHERNET and right down the IP address ... then close control panel and put the panel in transfermode ... then in winCC write the Panel IP address in transfer window ... It will work ...

Hello andreazana, First try disabling the ethernet interfaace of your PC and enable it again, it may sound quite funny but it has worked out for me most of the time. If it still doesn't work then I'm not aware if you are using WinCC based on TIA Portal or WinCC Flexible. If you use TIA Portal based WinCC then refer this below procedure for transferring configuration to panel thro' MPI/PROFIBUS and Ethernet - How can you transfer a WinCC (TIA Portal) configuration to an operator panel using MPI/PROFIBUS? - How can you transfer a WinCC (TIA Portal) configuration to an operator panel using Ethernet? If you use WinCC Flexible then refer this below procedure for transferring configuration to panel thro' MPI/PROFIBUS and Ethernet - How can you transfer a WinCC flexible project via MPI/PROFIBUS to a Windows-based panel? - How can you transfer a WinCC flexible project via Ethernet to a Windows-based panel? - How can you transfer a WinCC flexible project serially to a panel? - How can you transfer data via USB from a WinCC flexible configuration computer to a Windows-based operator panel and which USB cables can be used for this?

I will be able to try every option in a few hours, - I finally got authorization to bring the panel home for me to work on it - but in the meantime I do have another question regarding this topic: Is there a way to DISABLE the ethernet port? I'm asking this because, as I've said earlier, I could transfer months ago when I worked on this and know... I can't anymore. Is there any ethernet configuration in the panel that I'm not setting? Again, when I plug the cable both on my PC and on the panel, the ethernet card's light won't turn on. Best regards, Andrea.

Hello, If you want to disable Ethernet on a windows based panel, reboot it, and hit control panel button, then go to transfer options and disable ethernet port. If you want to use ethernet port, you have to enable it before upload or download project from / to panels. The same thing is for USB port. Hope this helps.

Hope I can get back to you guys with my results soon. Hello, Yes, someone can disable ethernet port when you are not arround of your Panel. Control panel is accessable during booting the panel. What you should to do every time when you download/upload project to the panel is to follow the instructions as given in the above links of Ganis10. See page 5 of the attachment ofHow can you transfer a WinCC flexible project via Ethernet to a Windows-based panel? Also see page 20 of the attachment ofHow can you transfer data via USB from a WinCC flexible configuration computer to a Windows-based operator panel and which USB cables can be used for this? To conclude; You have always to check if the transfer port you want to use is enabled or not. Hope this helps.

Let me tell you that after trying everything that you guys suggested and everything that came into my mind, it seems that the ethernet port of the panel is damaged somehow. So, I drove my efforts to MPI comminucation, in which I succeded! Turns out I had two conections configured on WINCC Flexible. I erased one and achieved my goal. But there is something else I want to say that may help someone out there: Everytime I reboot the panel, PROFIBUS is chosen in Transfer Settings. So I change is to MPI, do my thing and the restart again. Then I take a look at transfer settings and PROFIBUS is selected! Bottom line: check EVERYTIME you boot that Transfer Settings are correctly set. Thanks again for your help and have a wonderful day! andreazana.
