anto_eire2 Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi all, Hope some one can help me - im still fairly new to S7 PLC's. I have a CP433-1(R0/S6) configured as a time NTP Server. I followed instructions in http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=17990844&caller=view I than launched NCM S7 and in the Time of Day Tab the status is NTP Server, however "Collisions caused by time of day frames in the oppostite direction" is not zero Why is this? The error in the log in the Diagnostic Buffer is "Recieving a time frame from the station led to a malfunction. Cause Collision with time frames recieved from the LAN or no synchronisationsignal from the station" Also when I check the time in the CPU it is not in 24hr format. I noticed logsin the Diagnostics have an AM/PM time stamp on them- isthe clock displayed on the CPU online not in 24 hr format. Thanks Ant

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Dear Ant, is it possible that you try to use a S7-400 as a NTP Server? Well, this is not possible, at least as far as I know. The only option to have a S7 to be a clock master is to use the SIMATIC Mode. Maybe you should think about the following. The NTP Client requires a verified Time... how should the S7-400 get a valid verification? On the other hand, a NTP Server requires a STRATUM, you may not enter any value for a STRATUM or did you find a way to enter a value there? Best regards J_Bell

My setup is an S7-400 PLC with one network card - I have configured the network card time synchronisation to use an NTP Server.I have 2 queries 1. Is the standard S7 PLC time format the 12 hour clock, because online checking the CPU Tab Time System its in 12 hour format. 2. With an NTP Server how do you compensate for Summer/Winter time difference?I knowif its local time than you use FC61 - what do you havr to do for NTP

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Hello, well, I also know only the procedure with the FC 61, you can see it also at: How can you calculate the actual local time (summer time or winter time) in the S7-300/400 CPU and then use it on the panel as system time? Other ways are not known to me because NTP works with GMT and the correction needs to be done locally, in every node. But if someone has another way to solve this...
