The main question is: Why would your server time ever change this much? (Other then testing by yourself) Check: http://www.ntp.org/ntpfaq/NTP-s-algo.htm#Q-ALGO-BASIC-STEP-SLEW
By experience a lot of different things can happen here. Some devices only adjust 5ms per second, this would take 200s to correct 1s offset. It seems weird the PLC does different things with + or - offset. My best idea: + Time would cause a gap in a log or archive, which does not hurt . - Time could cause multiple entries for the same time within a log or archive, which might cause serious problems. Overall, just have the server sending an accurate time instead of thinking about the clients reactions. |
