Can anybody tell me what "number of connection "means???

Is it mean maxium DP node that  can  connect??

As I understand it..   You can have a total of up to 32 connection points that can connect to the PLC, regardless of what type communication (profibus / modbus / profinet / ..) is used. Furthermore (from the same extract picture) the communication protocol used may also be limited - like UDP set to 16.

Also - sometimes we use more than one link path to a device. THAT will also count as a "connection". For example if CPU1 uses x2 GET and x1 PUT command each on a different path (each using its own FB-DB) then you would use x3 "connections". - - - but someone more knowledgeable should confirm this.

 As I know, it will not use every time a new connection recource, if you use the same connection. 

In TD is also a entry with total number of instances. 

So if you use PUT/GET 3 times to the same communication partner, you use one connection resource in three instances. 

I never had a project were I had come to the limits, but a communication expert in our company explained it that way to me.
