OPC configuration

Clau Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have to configure an OPC communication between a Siemensand Honewell systems. Siemens system consist in: CPU 319 3 PN/DP, MicroBOXand Simatiac Net/NCM software. I did all the configuration steps by it does not work. When I check with an OPC client, I can see the defined items, but I cannot see their actual values (I have only bad values). When I checked the S7 connectionin NetPro, its status was "Not Available". (please see the attached screen shot). In the past I alsodid such a configuration, but with CPU 314 and a Ethernet CP and it worked perfectly. Please help me in this issue. Is any other configuration for PN Interface? jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, In many cases the connection between the OPC server and the PLC is a two way/two sideconnection. (You can see this in your picture because there is an ID for the local AND the remote partner). Therefore, You must download the connection to the OPC server, but to the PLC as well. The most typial error is that people forget to download the configured connectionto the PLC. The status picture you show is normal in that way that there is never a connection status available at the OPC side. But if you click on the CPU, you should be able to see if the OPC did start the connection. I hope this help.

Clau Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hello, Thank you for your quick answer. Maybe Idid notdownload the configuration to CPU. But when I right click the CPU, there is no download option there. The connection is alsounavailable at the plc side. ThePLCresponds to "ping" command from Windows (microbox). Do you have any other ideas? Thank's again, Claudiu

In your case select Simaic, go to PLC menu and Download selected station, after download all networks. After that if you open Station Configurator Editor you must see established connection. Don't use Netpro for diagnostic of network. This red square doesn't means that you didn't connected. Better check your connection with OPC Scout. You can find more information about testing OPC connection here in this forum using search button. regards

Clau Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your answer Idownloaded everything from netpro and I have the station already runnig (I mean all components are OK and running - IE General, OPC Server, Stationmanager). I checked the connection with OPC scout, I also checked the connection with another OPC client from the network. I can see all the itemsdefined within OPC server, But I can not see their actual values. I have only bad values. Any further ideas? Regards, Claudiu

Clau Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hello, I solved the problem by adding a CP 343 Lean. Now the communication is between Microbox and CP 343 and everithing works fine. Can anyone tell me if there are some special configuration for PN interface that have CPU 319? Do I have to configure, the OPC conection by PROFINET network, or it should also work with an Industrial Ethernet network? I never worked with PROFINET before. Regards, Claudiu

@JesperMP Posts: 54 Rating: (5)	Umencho, I dont think it is such a relevant example. Surely Claudiu dont want to setup the 319 as a PN-IO device and the Microbox as a PN-IO controller. My guess is thatthe problem is that the connectionwasnt downloaded correctlyto the 319, such as is mentioned already. 1. It must be possible to download the connection. As Claudiu describes it, it reads as if he only download to the PC Station. 2. As an experiment, Claudiu can change it from a fully configured connection, to an unspecified connection from the PC Station. In that way it will work even if the connection isnt downloaded to the 319. A disadvantage is that there will be no symbols.
