OPC connection problem

martinrelayer Posts: 60 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have 2 scada servers with OPC previously installed. I use opc client (scout and third party) to check connection but I have this problem, I can connect to OPC from any of this servers to the other, but if I try to connect from other computer I can't. I also don't have access to the opc server list from outside of this two servers. The version of simatic net is 8.2. I can access to both serversfiles from a third computer but I cant connect to OPC. I have same windows users In all computers. Checked DCOM permissions an are the same also. Also I have other services like sql which I can connect from a third computer. Anyone can guide me to troubleshoot I don know much about opc.

Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 3/11/2025 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	Hi, you already tried it with the help of the "siemens communication settings"? start > program > siemens automation > simatic > simatic net" and there is a button to get the configuration of DCOM done. how is the connection between client PC and server PC? directly? over switch? over many networks with perhaps intelligent firewalls/etc? tried a direct connection? tried to switch off firewalls on both: client and server PC? as you are reporting: your DCOM server sounds to work in a local way... so... you already had a look in the available documentation? for step by step getting a remote connecction to a dcom server? ( start > program > siemens automation > simatic > simatic net) why not using OPC UA?

martinrelayer Posts: 60 Rating: (0)	ok! Ill try to go through it. It was a hardware upgrade. The switches configuration weren't changed same port, same port config.
