OPC SERVER-CLIENT connection

Secu Cristian Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	The situation is like this. I have a PC with 2 ethernet connections: 1. from a RAYTEK ES150 temperature scanner, who has the possibility of OPC Server. The IP address on the network card is : 192.168.42.29 The IP address of the scanner is : 192.168.42.30 2.to the Industrial Ethernet , network of the plant IP address of the PC : 172.16.0.153 Raytek gave also an DEMO OPC CLient :SOFTING OPC..for visualising the SERVER-CLIENT on the same PC..and it is working ok. I want to take some values to show them on a Simatic PANEL MP377 (IP address : 172.16.0.4) through the OPC connection Inside the WinCC Flexible on Connections there is OPC, but i couldn't see anykind of tags/values from the PC. I tried many many things and looked through every options and documentations i have with WinCC FLexible for Communications, and everything i received from RAYTEK. Please help! I need some advices!!

Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 4/3/2024 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	hey man with the well considered nickname :) i think you have to do some programming to do the following connection OPC Server of Raytek --> YOUR_OPC_CLIENT --> OPC Server of WinCC that means it is not possible to have direct access from one OPC server to the other OPC server, you have to go over the OPC Client. Siemens also gives you example Clients and code for generating your own Client as well as the OPC organisation itself (look at their website). Perhaps it is easier to connect the Raytek with another connection to a SIMATIC PLC? Or directly to WinCC? Is the Raytek capable of other protocols to send data? From the PLC you have direct access from the WInCC OPC Server to the values in the PLC.

First.. i changed my nickname :) The connection that i want to obtain is between PC(with RAYTEK software that generates the OPC Server) and Simatic panel MP377 (as CLIENT). I allready have a demosoftware OPC Client from RAYTEK to see if the OPC Server is made ok. And when i open the client i can see the values from the scanner. So the connection i want to obtain is OPC Server of Raytek --> OPC Client WinCC Flexible The software from RAYTEK has the option to activate as OPC Server. When i install the Raytek software on my engineering laptop where i have WinCC Flexible, inside Flexible at connections OPC i can see the OPC Server as Local Server and i can take the values inside my tag list....But the thing is that the RAYTEK software needs to be on a normal PC...and OPC Server is on the PC...so i need connection from PC to the Panel.

If so, then you create a connection under "Connections". Here you can select "OPC" as communication driver. You then browse the network for the OPC server so that you get a "Remote computer name" filled in together with "OPC Server name".

Secu Cristian Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Yes, I tried this. This i knew from the beginning that i should do and i thought that would be easy. But the situation looks like is not that easy. I will try to explain better the situation i have. The software for the PLC and for the Panel are on a different server. I'm accessing the server to open the software(plc and panel) with my engineering laptop on which i have Simatic Step 7 and Wincc Flexible. For all except the panel i entered DCOM settings(my laptop, the server with the software, the PC with the OPC server) and give full authorization for everything and everyone. Dear Mr. mknudstrup...with all this made i still cannot see on the "Connections" - "OPC" , on network The OPC server from the PC as you tried to explain. I think that is still a problem of network authorizations because i see nothing under Network Neighborhood...not also maybe other PC's.... I did for testing one thing. I installed the OPC server from the SCANNER software on the engineering station (laptop)..and as you explained i could see the OPC ServerName , but under THE LOCAL part...that made sense..of course.... Also for testing i give pings from each to each ( from my laptop to the PC, from my laptop to the SERVER, from SERVER to the PC etc.), all sent and received. This has no COM/DCOM capabilities so it cannot communicate OPC DA. It can only work as a OPC XML Server. Take a look at: SIMATIC HMI WinCC flexible 2008 Communication Part 1 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/18797552 See part "4.1.2 Using the HMI device". You can install the OPC XML Gateway on the PC that connects to the MP377 and then exchange data between the two servers that way or you can use another OPC XML client directly to the panel.

Secu Cristian Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I already made this part few days ago...made the panel to Act as an OPC Server...and i installed the OPC XML Gateway on the PC that has already an OPC server...I opened the OPC XML Manager and inserted the IP address from the panel...but in the WinCC Flexible software at the connections i still don't see the OPC server from the PC... I want try the part with OPC XML client, to take the values from the PC-OPC Server into the client, and from the client to take the values in my OPC Server from the panel...somehow :)).... But i have to look for some free OPC XML CLients...Can you recommend me something ?
