I am having some problems configuring an OPC Server to retrieve data from a S7-315-2DP via a CP343-1. This topic has been raised at http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=52336 The CP343-1 has ISO protocol selected and talks to another CP343-1 on the network via an unspecified Iso-on-TCP connection, this connection between PLC's also uses ISO protocol as well as TCP/IP IP addressing. I am trying to set-up an OPC server using a standard Laptop Ethernet Port with SimaticNet 6.2 SP1, i have tried a fully specified S7 Connection & ISo-on-TCp connection with no luck, and also an unspecified S7 & Iso-on-TCP connection with no joy. I can ping the CP343-1 from the Laptop, and i can also download the netpro config for the fully specified connection to the PC station laptop station configurator via the PLC - so the PC is visible on the network. When i try to use OPC Scout to test the connection i cannot see the Blocks in the PLC. I think the problem is this ISO protocol - im not sure if my ethernet card supports it. Any ideas on this issue?? Regards Longhorn |

Hello Longhorn, When you install the Simatic Net CD, the OPC server is installed as well, along with the protocols like S7 or ISO-on-TCP. - If Step7 was installed before on that PC, the configuration software embedds itsself in Step7. - If you do the installation on a PC without Step7, the configuration software NCM will be installed. Be aware that version you use (6.2 SP1) is not the latest one (6.2 SP1 was released in 2004). And some HW available today could be missing in your configuration software. The first version of the CP-Lean was delivered in 2005. For XP, the current version is V7.1, and 8.1 for Win7. For the S7 connection, I agree, I must add some comment. If you are using a CP Lean you cannot configure a connection "configured at both ends". Because the CP Lean can only be Server for data exchange on S7 connections configured at one end only and without communication blocks on the S7-300 / C7-300 station. On the contrary, if you use a standard CP (1EX30) or an advanced CP, an S7 connection "configured at both ends" is possible. For ISO-on-TCP, you can have the equivalent of a both end configured connection with a CP-Lean. But using the send/receive interface. I add a small document.
