Open Communication via Ethernet and S7-313C

Woja Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Hi ! I have a problem that I cannot solve by myself. I'm trying to find whether S7-313C can communicate with non Siemens equipment over Ethernet. We have CP343-1 Lean for testing and regular one on field. I'm interested whether it is possible to make connection to TCP od UDP client with Lean card. We can easily make clients for testing on PC to see what's happening. Open communication (as I saw) is only supported on PN processors :- ( However there are many posts on forum that say this kind of communication is possible. Is there any example with this configuration: S7-313C (any non PN CPU) with CP343-1 Lean on one side TCP or UDP client (or server) on PC (depends what's realy possible). Thanks in advance, Woja.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Woja, the Ethernet CPs are able to run the following Protocols: ISO Transport Protocol (only Standard, IT or Advanced CP) ISO on TCP Protocol TCP Protocol UDP Protocol FTP Protocol (only IT or Advanced) SMTP Protocol (only IT or Advanced) You don't have to use PN Interface of the CPU all the time. Do You have any sample for free communication with Lean Ethernet card, or any pointer to sample project which could explain free Ethernet communication with Siemens? My coleagues from a company think that a Lean card can only "talk" with other Siemens equipment and I browsed documents for some time and I'm bit confused now. A CP343-1 (not Lean) is a Server and Client and have more possibilitys. But with the open communication it might be possible to do something...... Look at the exampleHow is an open TCP communication connection established between an S7-300 PN CPU and a CP343-1, and how is data exchanged There is also a wizard Generating the Connection Data for the open TCP/IP Communication using the Open Communication Wizard I don't know if it works with a CP343-1 Lean, keep us posted

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello, you talk about two different things. The Open TCP Communication only works with CPUs, this works without Configuration over Netpro, only with Data within DBs and T-Functions. CPs, like the Lean CP, work with Configuration in Netpro and they use the Send / Receive Functions of the SIMATIC NET Lib. Both work with Standard Ethernet. See RFC 793 for more Details about the TCP Stack. ISO on TCP works with RFC 1006 / 793. I have no clue what could be missplaced here. Stay calm.
