Hi guys, 

I need to find a way of implementing a script that checks if a tagvalue = true and if so opens a faceplate as a popup

the problem is UI tasks can't be implemented into scheduled tasks and i don't know enough about scripting to start anywhere

any help is welcome

In WinCC Unified, you can use JavaScript to dynamize almost all item parameters. However, you do not need to change the parameters within the script, so you can use the script to perform other tasks. For example, you can use dynamization to change the background color of your screens. Set the trigger to the desired tag (or just use the "Tags - automatic" trigger in V18 or later). Within the script, read the tag and open the faceplate if the value is true.

When selecting the tag to run the script, you should be aware that the script will only work if the item you used for the trigger event is displayed. So if you use the screen as suggested above, the script will no longer be available if you change the screen. If you want the script to run everywhere, you should work with a window in a window system where you have a screen window that is always displayed. Or, as of device version V18.0.0.1, you can use screen management to access the root window.

Hi stefan, thanks for an insightful answer however i have a couple issues

first off - running wincc unified pc rt v17

a couple of problems so far, i have a strange issue whereby if i implement a script within a parameter dynamization field to check the value of a tag and if(tagvalue = true) open a faceplate in popup this works, however if i change it to if(tagvalue = false) with a known bool tag of value 0 then nothing happens?

secondly in screen events the options are only for click or loaded essentially no way of inserting trigger tags 

maybe it's just my extremely ruidmentary JS skills that are the issue

I just did a little project that is an example of how to do what I suggested.

It just contains a boolean HMI tag, a switch that changes the state of that tag, and a faceplate. The script is done in the dynamization of the screens alternate backgroundcolor.
