Open TCP IP Communications between S7300 PN/DP and AB Control Logix

m kuhlman Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello Is it possible to communicate between S7300 PN/DP PLC and AB Control Logix via TCP/IP using the Open TCP IP Communication blocks without a gateway? If it is possible, what steps are required (especially on the AB side). So far I have only seen references to communications using a gateway. Thanks in advance.

Ideally I would like to use the integrated port (Ethernet IP I believe) but I think that it doesn't support TCP/IP or the correct application layer. If necessary I will use an Ethernet card for the controllogix rack but I am hopefull that someone at some point has done this and could suggest an appropriate AB ethernet card. Any recommendations? Thanks

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (323)	As far as I can see on the AB pages on the net, this communication processor doesn't support Open Modbus/TCP protocol. Probably it would be better to ask in the AB forum how to communicate via Modbus/TCP. Regards, Kaulquappe

m kuhlman Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	It doesn't need to be Modbus TCP/IP specifically. Whateverapplication layer protocol thatworks would be acceptable (eg UDP or other). I simply need to transfer process data from S7315 PN/DP to the controllogix via ethernet. To tell you the truth, I find all of the different applications on TCP/IP very confusing.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Kuhlman, I fear you will have to talk to AB to get to know which module supports standard (some call it also asnative) TCP/IP protocol. One point is for sure, Ethernet IP is certainly not TCP/IP. Sadly is AB not really informing customers if the TCP/IP Connections they mention are real TCP/IP connections. Best regards J_Bell
