"&" "|" operators in C action script

P.C. Posts: 23 Rating: (1)	Hey guys, I am notfully understanding thefollowing C action script: { #define TAG_0 "2M01AB" //2M01AB ismy tag name DWORD Valve; BOOL Ready; Valve = GetTagWordWait(TAG_0); Ready = Valve & 8; //In this case,what will be the value of "Ready" and what is the function of '&' here? What if I replace it with '\|' here? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Ready = Valve & 8; ... value 8 deciaml is "0000 0000 0000 1000" in binary Ready will be TRUE if "Valve" value will be "xxxx xxxx xxxx 1xxx", Ready will be FALSE if "Valve" value will be "xxxx xxxx xxxx 0xxx" This instruction is for test status bit into word (maybe to know Valve is AUTO/MAN mode) Regards

So if the value of the tag'Valve'is 1111 1111 1111 1111 instead, Ready = Valve & 8 will stillequal to 1, is that correct?
