p0103 Access error in S120 drive

Dear all,

We are using Siemens S120 VVVF drive for controlling 5 motors. There are 2 CU320-2DP. One is for for the ALM and 2 SMM while the other is for the rest 3 SMM. We are getting the fault "Parameter (00)p0103 Access error: Database - structure error" on the AOP. All the data are getting deleted and the drive is showing commissioning mode.

This has happened 2 times in the last 1 week and is generally after power is restored after some job done on the equipment.

p0103 = Application specific view of an existing drive objects are stored in non voltaile memory & it cannot be changed.

Why you want to change it?

Hi, there are a few suggestions I would make.

Depending on how long your system has been up and running, you could change the AOP30 battery. It will try to boot up in commissioning mode if it loses it's memory.

Make a copy of your CF cards in the CU320 control units and you could try quick formatting them (DO NOT DO A FULL FORMAT OR YOU WILL DESTROY THEM) and copy the files back on in case there is some kind of parameter corruption on the card. If you have the complete project, you could try a download as well - just make sure you have a complete project i.e. any DCC charts.

Try unplugging the AOP30 and see if the system boots up without error (Do you also have a BOP-20 installed on the CU's?) If not, just look at the LED's.

If this still occurs, then a new CF card may be required - they do after all only have a finite lifespan.

Formatted the CF cards of both the CU and downloaded the complete project. Kept under observation. 

AOP30 battery is ok and was changed a few months back only.
