Hello rdoliveira; Something tells me you might need just a bit more than an EDS file to setup communications bewtween a PanelView Plus panel and a S7 PLC. What protocols did you plan on using? PV+ generally use Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, DF1 and other Rockwell protocols. Of course RSLinx (OPC) is always required to setup exchanges to a Rockwell PLC. These prtotocols are not supported by a Siemens S7. See here for basic info on the PanelView Plus panels: PanelView Plus Terminals User Manual - Literature Library It seems you can use KepServer drivers to connect a PanelView Plus to various Modbus networks, including RTU and TCP; so can a S7 PLC (some require extra drivers and/or hardware), so that could be an option. 2711P-UM002B-EN-P, Modbus Applications - Rockwell ... There are even certain versions of the PV+ that support Profibus-DP, it seems ; this is news to me,, they cannot have been very popular... 2711-6.3, PROFIBUS DP Communications for PV Terminals Whatever your decisions on this subject, I do believe you will have to examine the balance of cost to efficiency before you make a decision. There is no easy path for a solution to this type of situation. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello rdoliveira; You can search for any Rockwell EDS file in this Rockwell webpage, but you will have to provide such information as the exact part number and revision if you have them:
Network Resources -EDS files from Rockwell
I for one would be very interested in how the S7 PLC will be recognized as an Ethernet/IP partner (a gateway, perhaps?) nd on how this project ends up. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Thanks, but I do not find an EDS for Siemens PLC. I want to connect with a PLC "317-7TK10-0AB0" |

Hello rdoliveira; As stated earlier, an EDS file will be used to provide information about a unit that can "talk" Ethernet/IP, Controlnet, DeviceNet... They generally are provided for Rockwell equipment, which support these protocols natively, and by other manufacturers who provide such interfaces for their equipment (Omron has them for Ethernet/IP on certain models). Now, also as stated earlier, Siemens does not support these protocols. Therefore, there are no EDS files for a S7 controller. Finally, also as stated earlier, to communicate between the S7 and the Rockwell protocols you will need a gateway, and this gateway may (must!) have some form of integration mechanism to the RSLinx, either through an EDS file or through an OPC connection. I recommend you look at the following thread, from another site I work with sometimes. You should find Ken Roach's replies most interesting, on how to use KepwareEx drivers (installed along with the FactoryTalk View Studio) with RSLinx Enterprise to connect a Siemens controller to a Panel View +. http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=11580 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
