Dear Siemens forums,

I’m using Tia portal v13 and I’m dealing with an annoying hardware error that I’m unable to solve. See the attached picture to view the network that has been set up.

I’m receiving errors from the analogue input and outputs modules (which are AI 8xU/I HS (6ES7 531-7NF10-0AB0) and AQ 8xU/I HS (6ES7 532-5HF00-0AB0)) which are connected to the IM 155-5 PN. Two diagnostic error messages are given, one from the CPU which says that there’s an “Hardware component not available due to a parameter assignment error – Parameter assignment in progress” error in all of the channels of the analogue modules and one message from each analogue module which says that there is an “error in lower-level component”.

I’ve also checked the LED-lights of the modules. There’s a red led-light that flashes on the IM 155-5 PN which, according to the manual, can indicate the following:

On the analogue modules themselves the green led-light for RUN is flashing, indicating that their parameter assignments are being set.

What’s strange is that when I go online I’m also given the information that both the Profinet interface module and the analogue modules are found (exist) and that they are OK.

Have you checked online module version and offlime module version are same?

Can you post the online device configuration screen shot of IM, not in network view. Take screen shot of Device view of IM where error is occurred.

  Thank You for Your reply! I’ve done an investigation on our equipment and made the following findings; the interface-module works only without errors if it hasn’t any cards connected to its slots. I also took one of the analogue cards (that was previously connected to the interface-module) and connected it to the PLC’s rack, to confirm that there weren’t any errors with the cards themselves (which there weren’t). I also did vice versa and took one of our digital cards that was connected to the PLC:s rack and connected it to the interface-module instead. This triggered the same error that had previously occurred with the analogue cards.
  To me (and Siemens support) this suggests that the interface-module might be damaged or, as You said, that there might be something wrong with its settings. I’ve taken a couple of screenshots of the interface-module’s properties. As was shown on the previous screenshots, the module is connected to the PLC via Profinet and has four analogue cards connected to its slots.

P.S. online it never says that there is an error with the interface-module directly. Instead , When I view the PLC's diagnostic it gives me the hardware tjat I mentioned before, pointing at the current cards which are connected to the IM.

I'VE Also checked that the "plastic connectors" behind each module and card are not defect.

Just thought I would share a solution for the issue I faced recently during config of an ET200AL blocks.

Standard setup, TIA V16, 1511 PLC, HMI and ET200. 

No way to get it to work - same error as in the post - error: hardware component not available due to a parameter assignment.

Checked everything: Part numbers, FW version, the block order, wiring, connections, all good.

Updated TIA to V16 upd5 and installed latest GSD file for ET200AL - still no luck.

Tried just with IM Module (157-1 PN) and no blocks connected, no effect.

Finally I just created a clean project from scratch, with only PLC and ET200AL - bingo, all worked with the first download.

Still no idea what was the problem, probably some corruption in the HW-config but I just thought I will post that as I spent whole day trying to figure it out so maybe it will save somebody's time.

I'm pretty sure the HW config was correct, I've been using the ET200 for couple years and never had issues with them before.

Thanks for the suggestion and link about deleting IM folder - that's definitely something I will keep in mind!
