Pass PID instance DB as input on FC

Best regards, Miguel Pinho As yoou are expereincing FB41 in TIA portal , pleaase check the following tip from STEP 7 additional software conference. Different ways to call PID controller' FBs Note, when you call for example FB41 in OB3X,All data related to the control loop is available in the instance data block and can be accesses globally.You can read and even write access to that in your entire logic if necessary. Besides, you can check the 4th case in the link provided above.Calling FB41 in a FC and provide instance DBs from outside. hdhosseini And the final way would be using functions.I came across the idea from HERE.The original user program was deleted due to "copy right" issues because it contains a function from "Standard PID Control Package".The important point would be how to interface the PID related data to global data.See the attachment for more information.It is worth mentioning when an FB presents in the "Blocks" folder in STEP7,You can create instance data block with same data structure.

MPinho Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	I know that i can pass the instance DB if i have an S7-300 or 400. The problem is if i have an CPU1500, it seems that it doens't accept the Data_Type "Block_DB". Thanks,

The problem is if i have an CPU1500, it seems that it doens't accept the Data_Type "Block_DB". Thanks, I should check that, But if you want an algorithm to be re-usable why don't you try a solution with FB and multi-insatnce capability! I will check and update! //UPDATE: Block_DB is not valid for S7 1500 but you can try Block_FB Attachment S7_1500.jpg (335 Downloads)

Is that possible? This case was about S7 1500 CPUs with TIA V12. The general rule is "All PID related data stored in Instance DB(IDB)".Easily you can check and manipulate variable of a really complex algorithm in nested function block by tracing the data stored in IDB.That can be done easily with symbolic addressing. This can be a method of all.
