I would like to password protect my Kp300 screen.

So when the screen needs to be accessed they require a password to be entered and then if the screen has not been used say after 2 mins then the screen locks

you can use the "User Administration" in your TIA Portal Project.

Then you can use a Button to open the restricted Screen. In this Button you can use a permission of the User Administration.

In the Sceduled Task Editor you can use the Event "User Change" to open a Start Page.

In the User Administration you can set a automatic Logoff Time for each User.

If you just want tu insert Password insteda of Username and Password you can set this in the Runtime Settings.

<Murof> has given good ideas. I thought I would follow it through to make some sort of instructions. Attached is a sample program, picture notes on what to look for in the program and also a PDF on step-by-step how to use the simulation of the example program.

The example has 2 pages. If you log in on page 1, the next page will open. If the user allows the log-in to expire, the system automatically go back to page 1.

To refresh the log in time-out, you will have to have tasks that is password protected. This should be on page 2 of the example and is currently not there.

There is an easier way to achieve what you ask.

Simply add password protection to every task. The user can only use the task if he is logged on. This is also explained in the notes on how to do that.

I am curious to hear your feedback on how these notes can be improved and if it is helpful to you.

i have downloaded the file and will get it together into my program attatched in the last post.

where you use F1 and F5 buttons could the cursor keys be used to activate the password page or as you said add the password page to every key so no matter what key is pressed a password is required.

also in my project i only have one page with all my functions for the password will i need to add new screens as per your example

i have added all the elements into the program and seem to hit a problem that is quite strange. when i run the program in simulator its perfect.

when i down load to the screen the password is in valid.

any ideas

When doing a download, make sure you choose the [all] option.. you have to make sure you also download the passwords. Also remember that the password is cAsE sensitive.

If this does not help you.. please attach a photo of the error next time of the error.

i was able to have my home screen asking for the login. i press F1 and i have to input the password this is then accepted and i can enter the functions page and carry one with my program.

the next issue 

i have set the program to log off after 1m but will not log off and return to the login page

Is V3 your latest version? I have now worked through V3.
There is no reason for what you describe.. from what I see.

The variable getGroupNr is still there - even if not really used.
  ^{Many times we put variables and coding in devices for debugging purposes.
  One such idea you saw me do in the previous sample.}
Now please add getGroupNr in your 2nd page and see if it changes..
at first to 1 or 2 when logged on and then back to 0.

If this does happen that getGroupNr changes as expected,
then you will have to consider a plan B.
  ^{I have had some issues with the KP300 before about scheduled tasks  :-(} 
For me plan B is to have the LOGO! help you to jump to page #1

But back to what you have -
It is best if you include password level access for each button on page #2.
At least then if the {auto log out bumps you to page #1} does not work,
there will not be any unintended access... just for insurance.

I guess that is why we test on actual hardware and not just "simulate".

I have taken your program (V3) and simulated it.
This version does not simulate.

I looked the program over again..

(1)      [ compulsory ]
The home page is marked as page (screen) 2, while function page is marked as page 1. The value of nextPage should be different than the page it is changed on.

So it will be okay if the home page is set to page 1 and nextPage value is 2. Then the function page is set to page 2 and nextPage is set to 1 there.

(2)      [ suggestion ]
The administrator user should have access to more than a normal user. Review the level of access to be above and include operations.

(3)      [ suggestion ]
Have some way to exit the function page. It can be a log-out function.

(4)      [ suggestion ]
Have a page for some admin / panel related function.. adding new users & passwords and being able to stop runtime.

See if my suggestion (1) sorts out your problem on the physical hardware.

i like the idea of being able to do the following of a admin and user i would like the user to be able to use F1 and F2 but not F8,F9 and F10.

will look into this but if you point me in the right way
