pc-adapter problem

Kertvin Advanced Member Joined: 5/24/2010 Last visit: 5/8/2019 Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	guys.. this is my curent situation right now, i've installed step7 v5.5 and delete the pc adapter in add/remove programs and now when i install the pc-adapter driver i get this messgae "Version V8.1 is installed on your computer. This set-up cannot install version 2.0 on top of it" but i didn't installed any pc adapter yet and version v8.1?! i know the latest is v2.0, thanks in advance

If you start " SIMATIC\Infmation\Installed Software" and select "Components" page, you can check the version of the SIMATIC Device Drivers. It shouldbe ≥ 8.1

It shouldbe ≥ 8.1 Dear Dirk, Aaa OK. Step7 v5.5 is too new for me yet. But with message which Kertvin received, I am afraid he couldn't install drivers. My opinion is he should use How can you completely uninstall STEP 7 including all the software packages?and then to install fresh STEP7. (BTW, I'll try the same issue most probably tomorrow, at least I hope). Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

But PC adapter V1.1 driver is blocked by v8.1 automatic installed. How to remove only the v8.1 driver? Please help! Thanks a lot in advance. Samuele

amcorgd Experienced Member Joined: 9/3/2010 Last visit: 3/31/2023 Posts: 15 Rating: (3)	hi... one of my colleague got the same message as Kertvin and Samuele when installating the driver for PC USB Adapter. what he did is to open Set PG/PC Interface to check if this PC Adapter driver was pre-installed. If not, Select the Add/Remove Interfaces > Install/Remove Interfaces > select PC Adapter > and click Install. Thereafter, you should be able to choose the PC Adapter under Set PG/PC Interface. Go to PC Adapter > Properties > Local Connection > Connection to... you may or may not see theUSB. If you can see it, good. For his case,heonly saw COM options, but not USB. However, when he tried to plug in and go online with PLC, then USB appeared. Not sure if this work for all the cases, but just to share...
