PC box620 and cpu 412-2 pci data upload

harrydeharry Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Good morning to all, I am facing problem to get data uploading from this 412-2 PCI slot cpu I disconnected its MPI and Profibus cablem from the slot cpu and try connect with my MPI USB cable but the cable MPI LED is not glowing what shoud I do I used to work on S7300 PLC this is first time I am tring to connect this CPU.. MY USB MPI cable is ok checked with other PLC the slot spu is fitted in a PCBOX620. and I am trying to upload it from my laptop with simatic manager 5.4 Thanks in advance

Which module are you using to connect PC to PLC? PC-Adapter USB or PC CP like CP5611?

harrydeharry Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I am using PC adapter USB 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0..........later on going through the PC box620 manual I found one more MPI/DP is in the box except CPU mpi/profibus....should I use that port.

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hi, usually PC-Adapter USB is supplied with power by the automation system via the MPI/DP cable. Slot PLC 412-2 does not provide the power to use PC-Adapter USB (like PLC S7-300). So in this case external power supply is needed. If you have installed STEP7 in Box PC you can set PG/PC interface (S7-Online)to PC internal. Then you should get the data. Or you connect the other MPI/DP interface of Box PC (I guess it's CP5611) with MPI/DP interface of Slot PLC. In this case you have to set PG/PC interface to CP5611.

Today I checked the box rear but the other MPI/DP port is not installed in the box..........the box pc does not have the simatic manager....I want to connect the CPU with my laptop and I have only USB adapter, will it communicate to the cpu after selecting the cp5611 or I need the 5611 hardware for this...Thanks in advance for your help If you can tell me how can I provide power from external as I have only USB adapter...........I will be great full... Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hi, soyou don't have STEP7 / Simatic Manager installed in Box PC and you want to use the notebook to connect to Slot PLC: then you'll need external power supply forPC Adapter USB. Another option is using CP5711 to connectthe notebook to Slot PLC. This CP does not need external power supply.
