Hello, Yes the advice is to not extend the 10 meter for a drop cable, and then connect to a Outlet and then you can continue, the total length may not be longer then 100 meter. Some interesting information can be found in the IKPI 2009 Chapter 2. Chapter 2 IKPI 2009--> PDF Reader needed Check Page 2/67 for a clear diagram. The Drop cable are there mostly thought as preassembled cables which are not available longer then 10 meter. The FastConnect ccable in the middle can then have the longer length (up to 100 meter in total). In most cases this cable is more suitable for the environments we install our PLC's, Drives, etc. |

Hello INS, Thanks for your reply. We are communicating Servers with S7-400 PLC through ethernet switch. I am attaching System Architecture for your reference. If we use an ethernet switch (D-Link DGS-1008D 8-port) between them, then also cable should be crossed? Thank You AttachmentSystem Architecture.pdf (277 Downloads) |

Hello, You are right about that. But couldI be that you still use auto negotiating? I guess the switch is supporting that, it could be that there is a failure between the 2 devices used. I really can't imagine that it is a length problem here. You can try to set the switch port to a fixed 100 Mbit/Full Duplex to test or this solves the behaviour. The CP1613 functions very strict to the standard and a lot of devices, especially in the office market are not that strict. There for I think this could be your problem. I've had problems with a D-Link card together with Industrial switches. It was the DGE-660TD, I couldn't solve it there for I'm not using the card anymore. It also seemed to be Auto Negotiating problems. I'm now using the integrated Ethernet port with the problem that I can't connect to our office network and an Industrial Network at the same time, Just an other question why have you chosen for this office switch inside a Redundant application? I searched for the manual of the device and I found some information about "Green Ethernet" which is a special Power Saving Technology maybe that is giving troubles too. Please use for applications like this Industrial Equipment. There are lots of advantage in such devices. For example the Redundant Power Supply possibilty which gives you more redundancy too. Please have a look at the Scalance X005, Scalance X108, X208 (Managed) or if price is really an easy you could have a look ath the Scalance XB008.
