PCS7 V7.0 and Step7 V5.5

Amit_86 Platinum Member Joined: 3/18/2008 Last visit: 12/8/2023 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Dear All, In my engineering Laptop, i have installed PCS7 V7.0 which includes Step7 V5.4 SP5 & WinCC V6.2. For my normal Step7 application iam using Step7 V5.4 SP5. Now, In one of my S7400 PLC project i have CPU412-2PN which is not available in Hardware Configuration.i need Step7 V5.5 for the same. Now i have software of Step7 V5.5. Till now i have not installed Step7 V5.5. Can i install this software in my laptop as already PCS7 V7.0 is installed? After installation of Step7 V5.5, my PCS7 V7.0 will work or it may create a problem? Because i am working intwo differentproject(PCS7 & Step7)together. Thanks in advance.

Dhruva Posts: 89 Rating: (4)	Dear Amit, First you have to uninstall the PCS7 V7.0 or better format that. And then Re-install Windows OS and Step 7. Having PC with PCS7 V7.0 will create problem while installing the Step 7 V5.5. It will give message like PCS7 component was found. If you want Step7 V5.5 in PCS7 then you have to get PCS7 V7.1 SP2

Regards, Ahmed Hello, i have heard about Vmware Player buti have never used it. Generally it is a virtual machine. Can you give some more information here.

U dont need to format ( uninstalling pcs7 ) your pc. Regards Ahmed

Niranjan Prasad Posts: 691 Rating: (37)	Also for VM Ware you should have sufficient Disk Space ( About 10 GB as Installing XP will consume 3 GB and rest for your Work) . Sufficient RAM Processor .If you don't have sufficient RAM Space, your performance of both PC and VMWare will be affected. VMWare shares RAM also. I will advice, once you made your VMWare Software Installation, then make a copy of the Folder to make Master Backup. In case your VMWare gets affected with Virus, You can delete the running VMWare and get a copy of the Master Backup, where your Softwares will be installed earlier.

Dear All, As of Now i have installed Step7 V5.5 in one of my desktop PC.hence i got CPU412-2PN in my Hardware Catalog in Current Module Version05.2010 Profile. Now there is an optioncalled edit Catalog Profile in Hardware Configuration.i exported Current Module Version05.2010 Profile from Step7 V5.5. is it possilbe to import this Current Module Version05.2010 Profile in Step7 V5.4 SP5. In Step7 V5.4 SP5,Current Module Version03.2009 Profile is available. Thanks in advance.
