Digital communications needs about 100 things configured properly, any of which configured improperly will make the connection and communications fail. 1) Which hardware port are you using? - RS-232 with flat telephone cable (square RJ12 connector) and an RJ-to-DB9 adapter? - your PC likely does not have a native RS-232 port. Which COM port is the USB/RS-232 adapter install at? - have you tested the USB/RS-232 adapter so you know it actually works? - RS-485? - Why? - What's wrong with using RS-232? 2) Have you configured the MultiRanger's comm parameters? - index 01 for Modbus parameters at P770 - P775, as shown on pg 91 of the manual (Changed index to 01, then used the Modbus values as shown for 770 and up), with the exception of a 19.2K baud rate. 3) Has PDM ever worked on any other device, or is your first go-around with PDM? 4) Applications note AG051130, Simatic PDM for Modbus Instruments, is attached 5) Have you worked through building a project in PDM and adding a Modbus port?
