permanent communication with a CP343-1-Lean

tomcor Regular Member Joined: 2/9/2007 Last visit: 3/15/2022 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, I use a CP343-1 Lean to send programs in a CPU 314 and to save programs on PC (backup). I remark that the LED P1 on the front panel is flashing green/yellow. NCM S7 indicate that the CP is continually sending and receiving messages. I want to close this permanent communication because it overload the network. Is it normal ? How can I deactivate the communication. Thanks

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Dear tomcor, that confuses me a bit, you say you use the CP only for programming, but you say alsothat the NCM reports that you constantly Send / Receive Data. Where do you see that? Could you post a Screenshot of this message? If you do not use an AG_SEND or AG_RECEIVE in you PLC Program you should not have communication working... as long as there is no other Node on the Network that is communicating over S7-Protocol to your PLC. Another possibility for the flashing Traffic LED would be that there is a lot of Broadcast Traffic on the Network. Due to the fact that a Switch has to forward this to all ports you would also see this on the Lean CP... I do not have any additional Idea... maybe we will find a solution. stay calm [;)]

It sends messages with two "protocols" : -LLDP : the PLC send its identity on the network. -PN-PTCP : PROFINET Precision Time Control Protocol. Is it normal ? What are you thinking about this ? J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello tomcor, this is what I found out. The Traffic you noticed is a system based communication that is required for an upcoming Feature of STEP 7. It is a kind of topology view for Ethernet. The Traffic required for this so low that it does not affect the System functionality. You can be sure that it will not affect the performance at all. The LED you have to care about, in your Case, is the RX/TX LED. If this LED does not lit you do not create traffic. I hope I could help with this Information’s. Best regards J_Bell
