Sidd94 Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am using TIA Portal v.13 with s7-1500 PLC. I have to make pressure regulator. Which PID should I use? and How should I start ? I am very new and have no idea. I have to regulate mass flow and regulate the pressure. Can some one please help me. Kind regards,

Kind regards, Hello Sidd94, My suggestion for such a process would be using "CONT_C" that is PID for continuous input and continuous outputs signals. Try and update, Hamid Hosseini

Hello again, For that function , I am thinking of static parameters and dynamic prameters: Static parameters such as switches like Cycle,P_SEL,I_SEL and selection of source of input(PVPER_ON) are statics.You should decide them in design phase.You can provide values for each parameter in program editor by assigning proper values for each variable. Some parameters are dynamic like loop parameters (gain,Ti,Td), auto/manual mode and re-starting the whole algorithm.They can be activated or de-activated in your program(e.g initializing PID block in re-start OB) or change via a watch table in TIA Portal. In brief,CONT_C is an easy function master plus you find plenty of discussions/samples in the forum.Also read the documents for differences between the old CONT_C for S7-300/400 and the new one that is applicable for S7-1500. "PID_Compact" is similar to "CONT_C" because it supports continuous inputs and continuous outputs.In my point of view , "CONT_C" is much easier to understand and operate while "PID_Compact" is more complex with extra options such as embedded tuner. PID_3step is used for integrating actuators , the outputs are 2 binary signals !

Hello again, There are some samples for STEP 7 in which you can see how to call and use CONT_C in deifferent scenarios.You can start from my favorite and check carefully all samples: Different ways to call PID controller' FBs Plus check all clustered discussions here: HD_PID Control Package - FB41 Samples in case of development of your program, share all PID section in .pdf format for more analysis.This is crucial because it gives you a chance to receive comments from a wide range of users.
