Hi, I'm using pid compact for temp control. I would like to start and save a finetuning without access trough tia portal but via hmi . is it possible?

Yes!!!  U need to add tags for PID parameters in HMI like PV, SP, P, I, D, CV etc.

U can use any HMI available!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used PID of S7 1200 and found that we have to insert or say move 1,2,3,4 to a tag representing mode of PID.  1,2,3 and 4 represents different modes of PID such as automatic mode, manual mode, coarse tunning and fine tunning. I am right now not sure what is correct for value 1,2,3 and 4. But principally it is correct. 

I thought of giving this facility in my HMI but failed.My question is is this only way to assign PID in different modes through HMI. How can we start and stop tunning?

Yes it is possible you can create the tags in your HMI like drop down list with selectiion 1,2,3,4 which corresponds to different modes of PID.Once you tune the PID it automatically sets the parameters in your CPU.

You can also display the values of P I and D by adding the tags of that values in your HMI.

after the first tuning made via tia portal, I should be able to start a new finetuning. I mean it would be enough to star a fine tuning, know when is finished and OK and save the parameter.  Is there some example video or document available?

Hi,

There are two heads under technology object of PID. One is configuration and another is commissioning.

Configuration shows all the parameters in function view and parameter view. When you go to parameter view you can see "set mode to". This is used for selection of PID in various mode. 

In commissioning you can tune PID. You have to enable sampling time and controller state to on. You can acknowledge errors by pressing acknowledge button in same window. After tuning is completed, you will get message "system is tunned".

1.) Starting Fine tuning per HMI:

For starting a fine tuning you have to set "Mode" = 2 and create a positive edge at "ModeActivate".

You will find both parameters in the PID block interface.

It contains a HMI visualization. In screen "Scenario1" you will find two buttons where a mode change between Manual (Mode = 4) and Automatic (Mode =3) is done. You could adapt this by using Mode = 2 instead.

2.) Saving PID parameters after tuning:

When tuning is finished, parameter State will change from 2 to 3. Then you could save the PID-parameters that are stored in the PID static section in the structure "Retain.CtrlParams" e.g. by creating an own HMI button for copying those parameters.
