So in general when you change P,I,D parameters you change rule, by which output is calculated. Increasing P would cause regulator to react quicker. But in this case oscillation become bigger. Increasing I helps to handle process inertia. D component reduces oscillation. I would recommend to read some basic books relating PID - because it's too much for the forum. Unfortunately i have link to these things only in russian.
