Ping => OK; Step7 => no connection

If we connect a laptop (some HP device with Win7 64bit) to our CPU, we can ping and check device state and compare blocks and all. If we then connect a PG M4 (also Win7 64bit) with the same ip settings to the same cable, we can ping the CPU but no action from Step 7 is working. We tried both Ethernet jacks, changed the PC/PG interface (ISO; TCP/IP; Auto) ... nothing seems to help. The PG came straight from the box so maybe we missed something that we have to do in order to use it with Step 7? Any idea what we could have missed or what we could check to find a solution for our problem? Thanks fschwa

Next thing to check is the SW. 1.Check PG/PC interface settings first, use a Cross cable without anything in the way, and make sure you use the right CP 2. Firewall settings - as said before That should be basicaly it. Cheers:

fschwa Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hallo and thanks for all your suggestions. :) The IP settings are alright, same network, same subnet, IP address is free. I now disabled the windows firewall completely (not just allowed some applications). The PC/PG interface settings seem OK. Although I tried all three variations of the Ehternet jack I found in there (ISO, TCP/IP and Auto). I tried two cables (that work fine for other people). Still, no connection. What I did not try yet is a crossover cable (I don't have any). Is the PG M4 not crossing automatically like most NICs do these days? However, I tried going in directly to the PLC as well as over the closest switch in the cabinet. For me this sounds like a somewhat broken networking stack in the Windows installation and I will probably send the device back to our IT guys to set it up from scratch next week. Anyway, thanks you for all the hints and if I find out anything about it, I will post it here. Regards, fschwa
