PLC can't communicate with VS723

anjenny Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi I've connected my PC, PLC s7-300 and Vision Sensor 723A with each other through a switch over Profinet. Three of the two communications works. - the communication between the PC and PLC works fine - the communication between the PC and Vision Sensor also works fine (I can see the images and program the camera). - the communication between the PLC and Vision Sensor however doesn't work. The PLC can't see the camera. They are all in the same range and subnet. (192.168.0.0 and 255.255.255.0). In theory it should work. I've attached a screenshot of the HWConfiguration in Step 7. This is what it looks like after I connect the VS72X to the Profinet. Does anyone know what the problem is and how i can fix this. dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 5/28/2023 Posts: 12024 Rating: (2594)	Hello anjenny; In that exact screen, double-click on the CPU and on the VS72x icons; both are marked with a symbol that shows they are in fault, and by double-clicking on them you will open their respective diagnostics buffer. Examine the contents of each (you can also save the messages in a text file that you can upload here if you need help deciphering them); this would be an excellent first step. anjenny Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi Thanks for your reaction. The error you were reffering to of the CPU is just a message that the CPU is inSTOP mode. When I put the CPU in RUN mode that message disappears. And I double clicked the VS72X and all I get is thescreen I attached. greetings anjenny Attachment VS72X.JPG (141 Downloads)

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Dear Anjenny, I have the same opinion as legacy support. I would even especially say that you did not load the Device Name to the VS723. Without the Device name the CPU will not find the Device and is not abel to set the IP Address to the Device. Please check in the HW Config if the Device name is already set to the VS if this is done successfully I see no reason why it should not work. Best regards J_Bell

anjenny Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Thanx for your reactions. That's the problem the CPU can't see the camera on the network. If I go to "Edit Ethernet Node" and press on browse. All the CPU sees is it self and nothing else. So even if i want to assign the device name with "Assign Device Name" there is notthing to assign it to. But the camera has a IP address and a name. The CPU should see the camera based on it's MAC address. I did change the name of the Sensor that's attached to the profinet to the device name set in Spectation and it has the same IP address. If attached a file which shows the config of the VS723A. There are two screen shots. The first ("Properties of VS72X")isfrom Step 7 HWConfig. and the second ("PC Communication") is from Spectation. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Dear anjenny, well, I think the Device Name and the Name of the unit do not match, therefore the System may not find it. Maybe we see here also communication problems, as you mentioned that you can not see the Device if you use edit Ethernet nodes. May you draw a sketch which shows us the configuration as you find it right now, with all nodes and your PC within it. If you find the time I would also do the following test. Please change the Device Name and the Name of the unit to VS723A if it still does not work out we have to see how your system looks like. Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Hello Anjenny, may you provide another Screenshot of the VDX Tool within the Spectation Software,just to verify the Devicename and the mode the deviceis running in. If you than crosscheck this with the configuration inHW Config this should already fix the problem. If it is still notsolved you may have to check thephysical network if everything is connected properly and if you are able to ping all nodes at the network.Maybe, if theController is not equipped with the latest FW it is always worth it to check if you get an up to date version of the FW to download to the CPU and the other nodes used. If all that is notsolving the issue I run out of ideas... I have to admit. Best regards J_Bell

anjenny Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi I've attached screenshots hoop you can do anything with it. I still have the problem. The physical network is connectedproperly I can ping every node. On the cpu it says version 2.3.4 and I'm using 2.3 and tried 2.6 but the problem ain't solved yet.
