PLC communicating via mobile phone.

www.opauto.no Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Hi guys. I want to communicate with a s7-300 to a mobile phone (not via wifi). And again read out status on valves faults etc or Reset if a error occurs via an app. What kind of hardware (exept the PLC) do i need to do this ? Cheers! ØP

Another option is to communicate via SMS and react to SMS from the S7-300. There is an example application in the Portal, have a look here. Sending and receiving SMS is, of course, not as comfortable as a programmed app at your mobile phone. If you have a look at the applications you can find some more examples for sending SMS.

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello www.opauto.no, what do you want to do with the S7-300 and your mobile phone? Do you only want to have diagnostic and control/monitor variables? In this case, you can use the webserver in the PLC and the userdefine webpages for example. Therefore, the S7-300 must be connected to the internet (via DSL router/ via UMTS-modem) with a static publicip address. With this static ip address, you can reach the webserver of the PLC. Another case is to build up a vpn tunnel to the S7-300 station. Therefore, you need a vpn client (there´s a ipsec vpn client for mobile phones available), and a vpn server at the s7-300 side. This can be a SCALANCE S/ M874/ VPN router... This possibility is more safe, because the communication to the station is encrypted.
