Is there no way to use symbolic addressing when trying to get a PLC Data Type into an HMI?

I'm trying to create a tag in an HMI (Comfort Panel - TP1500) that is the entire PLC Data Type.

The work around seems to be to use an HMI user data type, create the same structure as the PLC data type, but then you must use absolute addressing to access it when making the connection from the HMI to the PLC.

It seems like Siemens says "always use optimized access" and then in this case they force you to do absolute addressing which makes maintaining the program much more difficult.  Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this the only way to do this (besides not use PLC Data Types)?

I'm using an S7-1500 and TIA Portal v13 SP1 Update 9

 Actually, further messing around and I seemed to have made it do symbolic addressing.

So I guess it is possible.  Not sure why it was giving me difficulties originally.

you can use PLC UDTs in faceplates since WinCC Advanced V13 Sp1.

  --> See chapter 4 "Functions and Properties of a PLC Data Type" and chapter 1.8 in the "Basics on HMI Faceplates" document and chapter 3.1.7 in the "Application examples for HMI faceplates" document.

To create the HMI tag of the PLC UDT datatype you Need to drag&drop/copy the datatype from "PLC data types" into the "Types" folder of the project library.

Afterwards you can select it like a normal datatype.

 Maybe this was why.  What I did was create a HMI data type -- then I selected the PLC data type and it automatically converted it over from the HMI data type to the PLC data type and I didn't even need to put the PLC Data type in the types under libraries.  The HMI data type could then be deleted.  But probably if I do this it would make it easier to configure

You can use PLC Data Types in your HMI project. You can use them as optimized.

I have made a simple projekt and I took some Screenshots. It's in the attached PDF.
