Hello, PPI cable is not suitable for programming S7-300 family. Please order theSIMATIC S7 PC adapter USB; MLFB: 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA06ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 Please do not forget to order front connector (40 pin) for connecting the integrated I/Os on the CPU. Hope this helps. |

I am sorry to tell that if you are not using a SIMATIC PG, the PC adapter is the way to communicate to SIMATIC S7. If you have a SIMATIC PG, then you can use the integrated Promer to download the application software on the MMC or even use Profibus cables directlly from the DP interface of the PG and connect it to MPI intefrace of CPU. Back to your PPI cable This cable is used for connecting S7-200 to Serial Port of PC. It is not suitable for S7-300 family. Hope this helps. |

Hi The CP5711 is a CP, that means doing many more than you actually need and expensive (2x the price of the MPI USB adapter...) That said, I think it is a valuable tool, and a really good investment, since it can see MPI & PROFIBUS networks, can use it with an OPC server (it's a CP afterall), and use it to program your PLC... But, there are always third party adapters, in a margin of the cost, which you may consider... I own both the CP5711 & MPI USB Adapter, and believe me, there are times that I need them both for developing... Definitely worth their money... HTH |
