Hello Jamal; Answer to Question 1: No. Siemens highly recommends that an MMC never be formatted in a Windows system, as it will then lose the Siemens special formatting, rendering it useless for S7 PLCs. There are many discussions on this subject in the forum, all lead to the same conclusion as this one: if we have a MMC that was formatted with a PC (Unfortunately) Is there any solution to revived it?
Answer to Question 2: No.
In modern S7-300 and ET 200S CPUs it is absolutely required to slot in a Siemens MMC to act as a load memory (the location that you download your program/communication settings/ hardware configurationto). Without one the PLC will not activate withpout errors (try it),
You can find a description of the different memory areas of the S7-300 PLCsin the following FAQ: How can you obtain an overview of the memory concept of SIMATIC S7-300 CPUs and C7 devices? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Hi! Please checkthis link. You can find various image files there and tools to flash MMC with detailed instructions. All you need it is just to know size of your MMC and find a proper image for it. Please note, that you will do anything at your own risk) |

Hello Olloy, The mentioned link is for a post from 2006. After 8 years, Siemens made a new MMCs. And the image file won't work on different MLFBs. Moreover the link of the MMC image is not working! Hope this helps.

Yep, the post is absolete, but we didnt know how recent is a memory card from topicstarter Moreover, if you read this topic complete, latest post there are from 2014, April.
I downloaded two images from the link I provided (usually I check links before posting). Here is working links: 64KB imagehttp://www.tischer.cz/64KB.zip8MB imagehttp://www.tischer.cz/8MB.zip Also, example given it is just a proof-of-concept, and therefore there IS a possibility to restore MMC from the image. Other words, if you can make a complete image from Siemens-formatted MMC, that means you can flash this image to any other MMC win Hex-Dump utility. If someone can post an image, that also means you can download it and flash your MMC. |

Hello, Thank you. But again If I am the client, I won't be happy if the programmer put MMC image on my MMC after applying mistake format. Siemens is the only authorized to put images. And if Siemens would like to let everybody put these image, they should share their internal software which they are use for every body. And As I believe and may be you as well that Siemens use different internal software to put images. Of course they do not use these cracked software. So, how could you be sure that nothing is missing. In fact, If I have a formatted MMC, I prefer to buy another one rather than searching here and there for image writer cracked software. Specially these MMC are not expensive compared with other HW and cost of downtime that it may occure due to mulfunction of it. Hope this helps.
