please guide me to do the modbus comunication for CPU-1214

Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	hello all, some body please guide me to do the modbus comunication for s7 1200. there are 2 modbus devices from which i need to take data to s7 1200 plc(cpu1214). for this i am using cm1241 rs485 device. further to that i need to send modbus data to other device by using the port of the cpu 1214 c. somebody please guide me for that, i didnt tried this modbus communication, i gone through the manuals , specifying about modbus libraries , how can i get this. can i download from forum. please help me,. regards antony

Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	well thanks i got it. can u please explain how i can do this. also one more thing . i need to send datas to one alarm monitoring system thorugh modbus tcp., means using the ethernet port of CPU1214c. can u give me one sample project to achive this.. am attaching a simple block diagram of what i need. a) through cm 1231 i m taking data from a modbus unit (rs485). for that i m using modbus_comm_load and mb_master library instruction . hope thriug these i can read values from the address registers of slave (starting addres 40001). b) after getting values frm the modbus slave, i need to give modbus parameters to alarm monitoring system which uses modbus tcp/ip. for that i need to use cpu1214c port (profinet/ethernet port).so how can i acheive this,. what instruction i need to use same instrucation of above. c) if that ethernet port ifi use for modbus tcp. how i can download and upload program frm plc.by removing the ethernet cable to alarm monitoring system can i use this for downloading. otherwise i need to go for another module. let me know. Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	i gone through the manuals and also the program. can some body explain me about the parameter data_ptr on the modbus master. i need to read the adrress frm 40001 to 40100. in the case i had given the followin starting address 40001 and data lenght as 100. after that i nreated one master _data db with array frm 0 ...100 . but for me the p#db3.dbx20 is nto coming above my db block what is the problem with that. after getting communication how i will take the value on the adrress 40020. can some give me a sample project/hint, so that i can do a research and complete the project regards antony

Estring Posts: 86 Rating: (3)	Hi Antony, right click on your DB(3)>properties>Attribute> uncheck the "optimized block access" and it should write to your DB the data you read from your slave! and then you can do with it whatever you want, i didnt really understood what would you like to do with 40020? hope it helps you. wjlian Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Basically the sample program doesnt work at all even the "optimise block" is uncheck. I copied the whole program and by using V13 and latest rs485 module, I found that even the data block setting is the same as the sample program, same properties setting, same tag(not necessary), same start value and etc.....there is something missing and errors appear while i compiled the program. I would like to know the reason using those setting instead of *blindly copy the program and properties setting*, it totally doesnt help to learn anything from it. Would appreciate if someone can really guide to write the program instead of keep sharing the same link in similar topics.
