Helo saddlepoint; Number representation in computers (and PLCs) is not easy, once you go beyond integers, A standard for floating-pointnumber representationwas agreed upon to allow arithmetic of decimal-point numbers in digital computers: it is named IEEE 754. With this standard, all computers will agree on the format that will be used to write and calculate with the value 100,0, or 1,0 E02 in scientific notation. And it corresponds to the description given by hdhosseiny earlier, For more infoprmation on the subject, have a look at this article from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating-point Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
