you need a SIMATIC Memory Card to reset a S7-1200 to factory defaults if the password was lost. There are many many posts in this forum to this topic inlcuding links to the S7-1200 manual where its described.

For the S7-1200 the SIMATIC Memory Card is mandatory for the reset (with lost password).
