Does this include all communication? I need to be able to do some remote monitoring and programming of my S7 300 PLC over ethernet. Thanks a bunch! Ton

What Siemens communcations are you referring to? As for it being the only port for communications, then no it is not. Within reason, you can use any port you like for you own communications (e.g. TCP, ISO etc.). What sort of communications are you wanting to setup?

To connect from a PC using simatic manager is easy if you have the proper adress in the project and your PC is in the same IP range.Just set your PG/PC interface to ethernet.This comms uses 'S7 communication'. If you are trying to connect from , lets say ,home then via internet it becomes a little more difficult . We use VPN to connect from home to the local network and then with simatic manager to the PLC . The VPN connection takes care all the 'translations' and is managed by our IT people. If on the other side you are talking about connecting a PC to get/put info from a PLC then its another ball game . Eric

No VPN connecting available. So I'm trying to find a solution with port forwarding. UMENCHO. I will take a look at this! Thanks!
