Power Consumption Control Technique for Machine tools

nulizhang Platinum Expert Joined: 10/17/2007 Last visit: 1/17/2025 Posts: 4155 Rating: (363)	hi, you didn't give the configuration of your MC, such as how many axes and SP, the KW or NM of the motors. but you can simply use 840D+611D combination with power supply of I/R moudle which can feedback Energy when motors braking, especially when you have big SP motor. hope that helps.

Further more, from just the regulation of the motors I am investigation on improving the correction of the reactive power (reducing cosine of phi) while assuming a well balanced machine tool with motors properly sized to the application and duty cycle and so on. Is there a technique or methodology using this 849D+611D combination to reduce the reactive power of the machine no matter the implementation or configuration used? Or, do I need an external component according to the implementation or duty cycle?How do I calculate or connect this component to my CNC then?

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, I like the question Your only input to the system is through the infeed/regen unit. This converts the incoming ac to DC. The power cards then convert the dc back to ac to drive the motors. The infeed regen unit normally comes with a filter and a choke matched to work with the infeed/regen. As far as I know no details are available as to what can be done to the infeed. You cannot do anything to the individual motors. Most of us are more than happy if it just works. Maybe the 840D/611D is not a good example to choose

Really Superbeb Question , So far I also Dont Know,

Can Any Body Reply me Why in 611D AC is first Convert to DC and DC to ACthen to Motor. Can Any body Rely me.

Has Mr Pee Ell Seareplies most of us will not care for it.

In general, techinitians and engineers weusually are more than happy that it just does the job. More over, since we do not pay the bill we really don´t care about production cost to be sincere. My job now it is just to find out if it's possible or not to attack this by means of the CNC used on a machine tool(no matter tyoe and size of SP, axes, motors, etc), asI said, and no matter the application. Later on, might be the case I will have to go back to the Uni (or not). Nice way to start though is to find out if anybody else has though about it or if I am on a M:I:IV!!! Regards, H P.S. H" Good starting point optimize power consumption of the Drives is to start with proper estimation of the torque you need on the axis. Due to my expericence mostly machines are over-counted. I have done more that 20 retrofits of the machines and we always use smaller motors than were orginally. Smaller motor, smaller drive, smaller infeed module. You can also apply reductors... One of the solution is to use Infeed module with feedback to net instead to resistor - during braking.
