Mr G Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	We have a CNC machine, uses 2 channels and each have one probe. How would I able to transfer the probe datas to a profibus node (Allen Bradley unit), they need to read the values. Any help appreciated.

First question: does your A-B PLC have a Profibus-DP master communication processsor in the rack at this time? If not, here are products from the 2 major Encompass vendors for these comm processors: http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=brad_sst_communication_modules_for_rockwell_automation_pac__plc_controllers&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction http://www.prosoft-technology.com/prosoft/products/for_rockwell_automation/protocol/fieldbus_automation/profibus_dp Both vendors produce excellent material, and accompany their processors with sample code to be integrated in the PLC prograam and a Profibus-DP configurator that wil allow the slaves o be mapped. if there already is a Profibus-DP master interface, make sure you ahve access to the Profibs configurator so you can untegrte the slaves. Second question: do the probes have a Profibus-DP slave channel integrated in their electronics, or will you have to use a Profibus-DP remote I/O staton. An ET 200M station for examples uses S7-300 i/o modules hooked up to a IM 153-1 or -2, and you can connect the slave\s analog output to an analog input module on the ET 200M to bring the signals to the PLC over Profibus. There are many pending details to discuss, but I will wait for your answers in order to have an idea of what you are planning to do. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Mr G Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Daniel/Moderators the probes are Renishaw probes, not using any analog signals. They are connected to the NCU 720.2, plug X122, pin 11 and the second one is to the plug X132, pin 11. Both are working and measuring good. The need is to read the value of the probes when are touching up the part at the other station controlled by an AB unit. That unit is already configured and works. We are sending bit signals, but did not use the signal from the probe to read it on their screen. Siemens service advised me to use the GUD files, and with help of that is possible. Someone told me that the R parameter usage is much simpler. Thanks in advance. Mr G
