problem about fan alarms with S5 power supply

kingecit001 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear all Sirs: I have a problem with S5 power supply unit(6ES5 955-3LC42). When switch on the power,all 3 “Fan” LEDs flash and the “Alarm” LED lights up. I can sure that the air flow is adequate. So anyone who can give me some advice for this? Thank you very much! Kind Regards

RPvM Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hi, There is a little push button, with a (vertical) text "Reset Batt. + Fan" to reset a Fan alarm (and/or battery failure) Usually the leds willswitch off then after reset,if everything is normal. Otherwise also have a look at the manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1085837 Chapter 4.3 will tell you more... Hope it will help you, Ronald

Hope it will help you, Ronald I had reset the alarm by the "Reset Batt. + Fan" , but the alarm appeared again 6s after a reset was performed.There is now filter mat used here , so I think the air flow is adequate. RPvM Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hmm.... 3 leds flashing shouldindicate inadequate air-flow indeed. From Manual: Air flow monitoring with PTC thermistors as sensors; stoppage of one or both fans is detected and signaled to the exterior via Fan Fault LED and relay contacts, and results in shutdown of output voltage (switched off via jumper F-R). Maybe something wrong with the detection... Do you use original fan-blocks? Are the PTC's connected (I Guess the PTC's are mounted in the fan-blocks - but not sure about that)? Without filter and running fans, the LED's shouldstay out for sure after reset. Hope you can find some cause. Ronald

kingecit001 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Yes,this is the original fan-blocks. If I open the jumper F-R, the fan alarm still appear,but the all fans run well. I can see the PTC thermistors fixed upon the right hand fan. It may be the detection problem as you say, But I'm not sure is it permitted to short circuit the PTC ? There is only "1020" printed on the PTC,I haven't not found its datasheet. kind regards Luo Jun
