problem regarding drive cliq cable

Hi,

Currently I am doing a paper machine project where Sinamics S120 motor module, CU320-2dp, Active line module and active interface module are available. Actually the problem is regarding drive cliq cable. The distance between CU and S120 motor module is almost more than 40 feet. So I need to connect these two with a drive cliq cable which is not available right now in my hand. Therefore, I must make a drive cliq cable to complete my project.

My questions are as follows:

1.       1. Is it possible to make drive cliq cable to connect CU and S120 motor module?

2.       2.  If yes, then what is the name of cable so that I can get it from my local market?

3.       3. What is the procedure of making this cliq cable (means pin no., connectors etc)?

4.       4. Will we face any problem like data transferring or sporadically signal for hand made drive cliq cable?

Although probably not a permanent solution, I've used standard Ethernet cables and they worked fine.

The proper solution would be a 15m (about 48 foot) cable IP20/IP20, part number 6FX2002-1DC00-1BF0.  There is a cottage industry of 3rd party manufacturers that manufacture these cables if the delivery time from Siemens is too long.

I have been told from siemens guy, that this cable has to be in one part, and crimped, therefore they do not provide any diy kit, like cable and connectors. However, companies that require mounting cables trough pipes or tinny holes they buy connectors and crimp tool directly from the producer and this is a company from Japan. The cable is ethernet cable if there is no power supply, and special ethernet cable with two thicker wires for power suply (grey / green cable).

 The easiest and cheapre for you is to order preassembled cable from siemens.

That may be true, but I'm a bit skeptical.  Gbit Ethernet seems to survive quite well using standard connectors without using special crimping.  100Mb should work just fine.  Now, EMI is always a concern and I agree that a crimp is better than a vampire tap due to the larger surface area of the contact.  But, if you are stuck, Ethernet should work fine.

The ones WITH power supply I agree are a bit special.

And, I do agree that the proper cable should be used, if nothing else but to get warranty claim.

IMO, the connector is Y-ConPlug-21 + Y-ConCover-20 on the drive side.

If i use cat-6 cable for ethernet communication and rj45 for cliq, will i face any problem?

That's impossible. Look for  Y-ConPlug-21 at  www.yamaichi.de or your cable carefuly. You will see that this ain't RJ45 wit 8 pins, but it has two additional pin on top. You can only cut the original in two parts and then solder wires and shield.

But, if you need only to connect CU and motor module, then yes, a good ethernet cable will do the job. Still, you have to find out if it is straight or cross-over.

Can anyone give me the layout of the pins number and connecting cable color code?

We're mixing up cable types here.  The green type cable is for Drive CLiQ with power supply (encoders, etc).  The OP is going from CU to MM, which does not need the power supply (the light brown cable).

CAT 6 cable and connectors should work, but not as a permanent installation.  Get the right cable.
