Problem to establish communication with CPU 1511-1 PN and ET200SP between Cisco switch

Milos Petrovic Posts: 146 Rating: (7)	Hello everyone! I have a similar problem. I have CPU 1511-1 PN and ET200SP distributed IO. I did not configure topology. When I connect them directly everything works ok. But when I connect it over cisco switch it does not work. But I can see ET200SP in accessible nodes and I can change its device name and ip address. On this cisco switch CPU 1511-1, ET200SP and many other plcs are connected and CPU 1511-1 is communicating with them using PUT/GET. Any idea what could be the problem? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from Error with partner on S7-1500.

Hati Platinum Member Joined: 9/21/2012 Last visit: 3/16/2025 Posts: 4325 Rating: (487)	Maybe the Cisco switch is blocking some layers of communication needed by Profinet? Have you tested with another switch? And is the Cisco really a switch or is it a router?

Milos Petrovic Posts: 146 Rating: (7)	It is cisco 3650 managed switch, maybe it is not compatible with PROFINET, I do not know. I did not try with another switch. Is there any setting in hardware configuration to enable this?

Maybe check TIA system manual for Ports related to TIA which are important to open...

According to Cisco documentation PROFINET is enabled by default on switches. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/cisco_ie3000/software/release/12-2_52_se/configuration/guide/ie3000scg/swprofinet.html I will contact Cisco support to sheck if it is correct for specific model that I have and I will let you know what is the answer. You have only a Campus Lan Switch model, which doesn't support PROFINET IO IRT. You can only work with PROFINET IO RT, but for that the switch must be configured. VoIP must be enabled and VL Tagging.
