Problem while transfering part program.

PISCEAN 2010 Diamond Expert Joined: 4/23/2010 Last visit: 11/23/2024 Posts: 8092 Rating: (880)	Hello Experts, We have got 840D controller. We would like to transfer part program created on PG to controller with RS232C. Part program is created in text file in notepad. When we try to upload it from PG to controller, we get RS232C error & couldn’t see the program in part program directory. Attaching here with the program file. File Format requried should be like this File Format required for transferring files to CNC %_N_XXXX_MPF (for Part Programs/ Main programs) ;$path=/_N_MPF_DIR %_N_XXXX_SPF ( For Sub programs) ;$path=/_N_SPF_DIR XXXX= your program name Example %_N_TEST_MPF instead of XXXX Regards, Ekalavya

It is part program. File is created in txt format with notepad. Now when I have to save it, doesn't it mean that I should delete txt extension & save it as .mpf extention? Am i right or I have to save it with both extention.

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hello... You send it in txt format but the information regarding the MPF should be correct that is the path should be proper.... After sending it in to the control CNC rename the file .txt to .mpf it works..... Regards, Ekalavya

Pee El Sea Gold Member Joined: 1/19/2008 Last visit: 10/2/2024 Posts: 992 Rating: (64)	Hi, As long as you use the format described by Ekalavya %_N_NameHere_MPF (for Part Programs/ Main programs) ;$path=/_N_MPF_DIR The file extension doesn't matter. As the program is read into the control the system looks at the first two lines and saves the file with the program name you put on the first line and into the directory you put on the second line. If in doubt about the format read a program out first then try and read the same file back in. Pee

Pee Hi Pee, I also tried by the way as mentioned by you. I send out the file, opened it in notepad, data copied & paste in the file. Save the file & again tried for data in. I could see the data transmission, but could not able to find the file. Means the file created in PART PROGRAM was not getting updated. When I create the NEW file in part program, I could read byte capacity as 0. When I DATA OUT the same part program file & checked in WINPCIN, I could see data transmission as 2046 byte. Then I modified it by coping data from another file & paste in the same file. While copy & paste, I took care so that file lines shouldn’t get modified & data paste at the last in file. I saved the file. (Not changed extension) When I DATA IN I could see the byte transmission & WINPCIN also displays message as 491 bytes send. But when I check my original file in part program directory, the file capacity shows as 0 byte. I don’t know where this data transmitted. Do you have any idea of location, where it could be?
