simple question, if you delete your Lean CP from HW and re-insert from catalogue, what default I/O addresses set the system? Lean CP addresses from your picture simply use process image area (what digital I/O can assign), strange to me that system assign that addresses or you have made that?

in my opinion any of free address from 256 can be assigned but it depends to other modules occupied area and required length of course. Try click properties on CP and click Addresses. In this screen you have choice for System default checkbox, try this option and compile if something will change. Hope this help you, you can also find in menu some option to see all addresses occupied by system so probably you have choice then set it manually to not also mismatch with other range set by other modules.

maybe you remove all externall devices but probably not recompile HW, but don't do this. Make clear new test HW cfg and create your cfg only with that 315 CPU and only Lean CP again, you then see that all is working ok so probably you don't have some free memory area for new Lean CP in your 315 CPU prj, your new added 317 has more I/O memory probably so this isn't problem in my opinion. Wait for a while for another guys recommendations.

Update: look carefully in HW cfg to CPU 315 cfg options and compare it with added 317 CPU.

just another test, make again replace of your CPU 315 with that CPU 317. Recompile HW (hope you have backup for sure to make tests). All can be now ok, also as you've mentioned. Now replace that 317 CPU with that 315 back. Try recompile. What result? Also what Siemens SW complete version you have installed, only for sure?

maybe another hint but be carefully about addressing, they can change also to your DP devices I/O address but can be probably solved. In case that Lean CP can't use that reserved process image memory, reconfigure some DP device to use that process image area which CP can't use. Simply delete CP, recompile as it was before and try change some DP Slaves to use that addresses. Then simply this free area can be used to CP Lean module. I think this can work, nothing else I can't imagine. Better maybe reconfigure some Slave (also maybe addresses can change in program, is yopur business) but your CP can be then work. Look to CP cfg option how much Bytes it takes, probably 15 for Input and 15 for Output.

Update: definitelly is difference between that 315 and 317 CPUs in amount of memory, therefore that 317 is ok. Make that changes as I've recommend, then your CP can use memory that some DP Slaves used before, this is only solution in case you don't want change CPU. But be carefully, pay attention again to my previous sugestion to also situation that if some addresses change also in program you need check this and change to new re-addressing.
